SYRIZA-PA to Discuss Disciplinary Action against Crete MP Pavlos Polakis

February 28, 2023

ATHENS – It is expected that on Tuesday, the leader of the main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance, Alexis Tsipras, will request that the party refer former minister and MP Pavlos Polakis to its Ethics Committee. The request will be made at a meeting of SYRIZA-PA’s Executive Bureau at 5 pm. Tsipras cited Polakis’ “attitude of systematically breaking the rules of collectivity and the democratic functioning of the party” as the reason for his decision.

Tsipras made the decision to dismiss Polakis as the party’s sector head for transparency on Sunday, after a series of social media posts made by the MP for Crete. The Executive Bureau will examine initiating disciplinary proceedings against Polakis.
