ATHENS — Nine Syrians posing as volleyball players attempted to illegally travel from Athens International Airport Elefterios Venizelos to Vienna on Sunday night but were arrested.

According to police, the nine Syrians had fake identity cards and, in order to deceive the police, had arrived together at the airport wearing matching sports uniforms and sports bags in order to look like a volleyball team.
