Syracuse AHEPA Chapter 37 Remembers Our Fallen Heroes

SYRACUSE, NY – On May 28, AHEPA Chapter 37 remembered our fallen heroes and veterans ahead of Memorial Day by placing American and Greek flags at Oakwood Cemetery. This is an event which started six years ago to honor our fallen heroes and the veterans who have passed and to say that “we never forget.”

Events related to veterans are important to the Syracuse Chapter which includes 12 U.S. and eight Hellenic veterans. The Chapter is honored to have active members including retired Colonel Ted Limpert, Colonel John Lemondes, Major Peter Manolakos, and Warrant Officer Frederick Zimmerman IV.

It should be noted that Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day from the early tradition of decorating graves with flowers, wreaths, and flags, honors those who have died while serving in the military.
