Stylianides Stresses Need to Strengthen European Civil Protection Mechanism

BRUSSELS – Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Christos Stylianides on Thursday stressed the need to strengthen the European Civil Protection Mechanism and rescEU as “key tools for our collective protection against the ever-increasing natural disasters.”

Stylianides participated in the 7th European Civil Protection Forum, held in Brussels.

The minister argued that cooperation with the scientific community and civil society at the local, national and international levels should be the first priority for shielding against natural disasters. In his speech on “How to respond to the next climate-related crisis?”, he spoke in detail about the need to link risk management with new challenges, which the climate crisis brings about on the basis of the triptych prevention-preparation / readiness-resilience.
