Stournaras: Greek Prime Minister’s Proposal a Great Honour for Me

ATHENS – The governor of the Bank of Greece (BoG) Yannis Stournaras made the following statement on Tuesday, after government spokesperson Stelios Petsas announcement that the government intends to renew his term of office at the central bank: "The prime minister and the government's proposal for the renewal of my term as BoG governor is a great honour for me. I want to reassure them that I will continue to remain focused on the key mission of the Bank of Greece, namely to guarantee monetary stability and the stability of the country's financial system, for the benefit of the country and Greek citizens".

According to BoG's charter, the central bank's board General Council will convene in the next few days to formulate its proposal to the cabinet.
