Stoltenberg Notes 70th Anniversary of Greek, Turkish Membership in NATO

BRUSSELS – NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg referred to the 70th anniversary since Greece and Turkey joined the alliance, during a meeting of the organization’s Ministers of Defense in Brussels on Wednesday.

On the sidelines of the broad meeting on February 16-17, Greek National Defense Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos met briefly with Stoltenberg, according to the Greek ministry. He also had a brief meeting with his Turkish counterpart Hulusi Akar, who presented Panagiotopoulos with a commemorative photograph from one of their previous meetings, it added.
