Stampoulidis: “Click Away” and “Click Inside” the Only Model for the Market to Operate

February 1, 2021

ATHENS — "There is no other model for the market to operate except click away and click inside," the general secretary of Commerce and Consumer Protection Panagiotis Stampoulidis said on Monday in an intervew with public broadcaster ERT1.

He explained that click away was successfully implemented before the holidays, in some industries, so it came back while click inside started, especially for businesses such as clothing, shoe stores and bookstores, in order for businesses to operate and to meet the needs of consumers.

"Retail represents 40 pct of public revenues, so we found a balance that on the one hand reduces the mobility of citizens on the streets and on the other hand keeps businesses open," he said and added:

"There is no other way at this time to keep a balance between the operation of the market and compliance with the restrictive measures for Covid-19."

"We believe that people will restrict unnecessary movements in order for the measures to work and for us to return to normalcy. So we will continue this until the end of the month, to see how click inside will work," Stampoulidis said.

"We will see how things go this week and towards the end of the week, possibly, we will reconsider some activities. We should all be very careful and protect what we have achieved so far," concluded Stampoulidis.
