Addressing the Green Deal conference organised by the Technical Chamber of Greece in Athens, Staikouras said that despite the unpredictable, external, multi-aspected crises, the Greek economy showed remarkable resilience and strong momentum, confirming European Commission forecasts placing the country among the short-term and long-term rapidly developing economies in the Eurozone. He underlined the historic decision taken by the Eurogroup in Luxembourg that Greece should graduate from the enhanced surveillance mechanism and its return – after 12 years – to European normality.

The FinMin unveiled the plan for a timely and efficient green transition of the economy, which included the “Greece 2.0” programme, financing tools and tax policies, sustainable funding, working groups for sustainable funding and a green economic transition, transparency and sustainability in corporate governance, adopting a green budget and issuing a state green bond in 2022.
