CHERRY HILL, NJ – The St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill held the opening day and annual blessing for its Sunday School on September 19. Presiding priest of the community Fr. Christoforos Oikonomidis welcomed the students, parents, teachers and staff and performed the blessing.
The St. Thomas Orthodox Faith Sunday School is a vibrant church school with students from 40 days to 18 years old, with classes from Tot & Me to 12th grade.
The 27 dedicated, volunteer Catechists and Administrative staff with the spiritual guidance of Fr. Oikonomidis work faithfully to teach the Orthodox faith to all the students and families.
St. Thomas GOYA has always been an energetic and enthusiastic group of teenagers, 7th through 11th grade that come together and share the four characteristics/circles of Worship (Liturgia), Fellowship (Koinonoia), Service (Diakonia), and Witness (Martyria).
The newly elected 2021-2022 GOYA Board was sworn in at the church on September 19: President Yianna Ljachin, Vice President Mihalis Pantelous, Treasurer Nick Pappas, Corresponding Secretary.Maria Basantis, and Historians Christina Tzitzifas and Ariana Nikolaros.
