Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ALBANY, NY – On August 11, the members of the St. Sophia Scholarship Committee were honored to present the St. Sophia Scholarship awards for the 2024-2025 academic year to 13 award recipients following the Divine Liturgy at St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church in Albany, NY. These awards were based on several factors, including their participation in various activities at St. Sophia, the student’s academic record, and their student essay. Three students also received the Athena Lord Scholarship award. This award was created by Athena’s family in her memory.
The 2024 award designees are Aphroditi Anagnostopoulos – University of Miami; Dimitris Anagnostopoulos – Siena College; Marie Borca-Tasciuc – RPI; Anna Cholakis – Misericordia University, Athena Lord Scholarship recipient; Elizabeth Cohen – SUNY Cortland; Yanni Koutelis – HVCC; Peter Landi – SUNY Binghamton, Athena Lord Scholarship recipient; Elliana Lasher – Utica University; Lucas Lasher – Clarkson University; George Reynolds-Cotzas – Boston University; Dean Sokaris – Wesleyan University; Christopher Soler – SUNY Albany; and Maria Tsakalakos – Emory University, Athena Lord Scholarship recipient.
“We extend our congratulations to all our recipients,” the St. Sophia Scholarship Committee said via email. “It is the wish of this committee, and every member of St. Sophia that they will continue their adult lives at St. Sophia and encourage others who follow them to build on their achievements. We believe that investing in our children and our students is an investment in our future.”
