Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
BROOMALL, PA – On October 10, the Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. Luke Chapter 1082 in Broomall held its biannual Welcome and Appreciation Tea. The event’s purpose is to honor the outgoing President and welcome new and potential members. The Ladies honored their outgoing President Angelique Messari Demetris who held the position for the past four years.
Rev. Father Christ Kontos offered the opening prayer and congratulated the Philoptochos for their hard work. He also congratulated Angelique on her achievements and dedication to the Chapter. Alexandra Polites Perrot, the Chapter’s President, welcomed everyone, honored Messari Demetris by mentioning some of her accomplishments during her tenure, and presented the outgoing President with gifts and flowers.
The Chapter was honored to have Eleni Constantinides, President of the Metropolis of New Jersey Philoptochos, attend the event along with her husband Mario. During her speech, Mrs. Constantinides expressed her admiration and respect for Messari Demetris who then, in her own remarks, thanked everyone for their continuous support, love, and guidance. She encouraged all members to continue supporting the Philoptochos and its mission.
The Welcome and Appreciations Tea committee- Maria Carafides, Karen Kotapka, Katina Maltas and Joanna Mattis, paid attention to every detail and planned a memorable event.
October 10 was also the first day of Sunday School for the youngsters in the St. Luke community and the swearing in for the GOYA Board for 2021-22- Johnny Papadopoulos, Evanthia Greco, Arianna Berryman, Kyra Pylaras, Daphne Kounios, and Vasili Tzimas. We wish them all the very best in their endeavors.
