St. Demetrios Greek School End of Year Celebration in Upper Darby, PA

UPPER DARBY, PA – The Greek School of Saint Demetrios in Upper Darby held the end of year celebration on June 2. Grandparents, parents, and teachers gathered to honor the graduating students of the eighth grade and to watch the performances by students of all grades ahead of summer vacation. Many students were recognized and awarded for achieving an GPA of 3.75 and above, participating in the choir, and perfect attendance. The success of the students could not have been achieved without the support and guidance of the amazing teachers.

The school also honored Mrs. Anna Limbanovnou for her multiple decades serving as a Greek School teacher at Saint Demetrios. Her dedication and love of teaching is only matched by her dedication and love of her students. The Greek School Board and PTA presented her with a bouquet of flowers and an icon of Saint Demetrios while Fr. Alexandros Kaitidis spoke about her impact on the community and the importance of the work that Mrs. Anna accomplished over the years. The school will also hold a luncheon in her honor when she returns from her well-deserved trip to Greece.

As always, Saint Demetrios Greek School consistently strives to improve and will continue with that mindset for the 2024-25 school year. New teachers are coming on board to provide additional support where needed and the Pre-K class will be reinstated. The school is also exploring transportation options for families outside the immediate vicinity of the church.

In all, it was another great year for the students and community thanks to the parents that help to fundraise and hold events for the students throughout the year and teachers that go above and beyond to ensure the language is passed on to the younger generations.
