Special Operations Forces from Greece, Cyprus and the USA Conducted Joint Training Exercises (Pics)

NICOSIA — Special Operations Forces from Greece, Cyprus and the USA conducted joint training exercises in naval special operations from January 11-29 in the wider area of Souda Bay in Crete.

According to an announcement, the joint training was planned and coordinated by the interdisciplinary special operations administration of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) and included amphibious operations near the coast and ship inspections with practical training on the training ship "Aris".

In addition "field training exercises, maritime security operations" were also held in collaboration with the frigate "Kanaris" of the Hellenic Navy.

The joint training aimed to enhance the combat capability and strengthen the close ties and interoperability of allies and partners, as well as provide training in dealing with contemporary forms of threats in the Eastern Mediterranean environment.
