Sooooo-ieee! In Arkansas, Mama’s Gyros Grill Makes the Best Burgers Too

Arkansas is the home of the razorbacks, of course, wild hogs that are the symbol of the state’s university and why the fans at football games all scream “Soooo-ieee!” to disorient the other side but who knows if they’re good eating.

The meat inside what you get at Mama’s Gyros Grill is, however, and while that’s typically pork or chicken, or lamb in some cases, the family-owned Greek and Mediterranean-style restaurant has developed a reputation for something else.

Cheeseburgers. The tiny eatery is inside a shopping strip mall in the small city of Sherwood, north of Little Rock and has been operating for 40 years.

The site Only In Your State headlined it, ‘The One Greek Restaurant In Arkansas With Surprisingly Delicious Burgers’, something you wouldn’t expect to find in a Greek restaurant that has gyros in its name. “And you’ll want to stop by and try it for yourself. OPA!!! OPA!!! OPA!!!”

Not just cheeseburgers but double cheeseburgers and a double bacon cheeseburger, although if you’ve come for the Greek food you can opt for gyros, souvlaki, falafel, Greek salads and baklava. What, no double cheeseburger gyro?
