Somali National Found Dead at VIAL Camp on Chios

CHIOS — The migration and asylum ministry on Wednesday announced the death of a 28-year-old Somali man at the VIAL camp on the island of Chios. According to the announcement, the man was found on Easter Monday at noon by other Somalis, who called the police.

A doctor who examined the body said that he had been dead for at least 10 to 12 hours and that he had two wounds, on the ear and left hand, probably from a rat bite.

The initial official announcement excluded the possibility of foul play, adding that more details into the circumstances of his death will be revealed by a post-mortem examination.
