SNFPHI Online Event on Karagiozis in Asia Minor April 7

NEW YORK – The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Public Humanities Initiative (SNFPHI) at Columbia and the University Seminar in Modern Greek presents Research into the Shadows: Karagiozis in Asia Minor on Friday, April 7, 5-6:30 PM. The seminar will be conducted in English.

The seminar explores the role of historical research in shadow theater. SNFPHI awardee Spyros Aggelopoulos will discuss his new play, Karagiozis in Asia Minor, with UC Berkeley historian Christine Philliou and Columbia faculty. The play is the outcome of a collaboration with scholars from Turkey and Greece.

This event is co-sponsored by the Sakıp Sabancı Center for Turkish Studies, the Program in Hellenic Studies, and Greece in USA.
