SNF Announces Upcoming Summer Nostos Festival June 23-30

ATHENS – The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) presents a week full of music, dance, arts, and sports; the 8th SNF Conference and the 2nd Agora Institute Workshop; the SNF RUN: Running into the Future; kids and family activities; an impressive fireworks show; and much more at the upcoming Summer Nostos Festival (SNFestival) June 23-30.

SNFestival returns as always with free admission for all, ready to sweep us away with its carefree, fun-loving mood.

Modern pioneers, internationally acclaimed performers, and leading Greek artists from every field make up the program of this year’s SNFestival, which will take place once again at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens.

At the SNFestival, among other events, Schoolwave meets Medea, the voice of Neneh Cherry meets authentic Greek laiki music as performed by Yorgos Margaritis, Low’s indie rock sounds meet Akram Khan’s choreographed world, and a new composition by Bryce Dessner (The National) meets Enro Rubik, creator of the eponymous cube.

There is much more to explore than just the artistic program of the SNFestival! Arts, sports, conversation, and participatory events find common ground through a rich program of events for all ages and interests throughout the festival.

This year’s SNFestival starts on June 23, Olympic Day, with the SNF RUN: Running into the Future race. Following that, on June 24th and 25th, the 8th Stavros Niarchos Foundation Conference will take place under the title [Untitled]. In addition, the 2nd Agora Institute Workshop will be held on June 26th in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University.

Visual arts lovers will have the chance to get acquainted with the contemporary Greek scene through the works of a selection of young artists, awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Artist Fellowship run by ARTWORKS.

Creative workshops, sport and fun activities, play and wandering carefree around the SNFCC fill this unique week, dedicated to all those who feel a little nostalgic for summertime as a kid.
