Skepi Appeals to Community for Emergency Mission to Help Elderly Woman

July 8, 2024

NEW YORK – The philanthropic organization Skepi recently shared an update on its emergency mission efforts to help a struggling, elderly woman within our Orthodox Community who has to relocate from New York City to Upstate New York, near the Monastery of St. John Maximovitch in Cobleskill, NY.

The woman, who remains anonymous out of respect for her privacy, requested help since she requires two 26-foot trucks and four movers, and the cost is over $4500. She is also attempting to find doctors near her new home to ensure her health conditions are not aggravated, while packing whatever items she can in anticipation of the move. The moving deadline was originally June 30, but has now been extended to July 10.

Children in Cobleskill, NY, came together last week to sell lemonade and homemade cookies to help raise funds for the move. Skepi noted the hope that their efforts will encourage others to help the cause, whether by volunteering, providing resources, or making a donation.

Please note, the online donation form provides the opportunity for donors to list a name(s). In addition to receiving digital recognition (unless anonymity is requested), names submitted via the online form will also be added to a list to be read during prayer on their behalf.
