ATHENS – A 22-year-old university student in Athens who was caught on surveillance cameras exposing himself to a woman entering an apartment, and said to have done the same to others, will also be charge with attempted rape.
That's a felony that carries a heavier sentence, the count added after a 22-year-old woman said she recognized the suspect – who's not being named – from CCTV footage that caught him flashing another woman.
His face had been blurred out in media reports but the woman who said she saw him on the video said he had tried to sexually assault her outside her apartment building in August, 2020.
Two other women have also said he exposed himself to them and he was apprehended after the video caught him, as well as from a fingerprint on the building's glass door in the neighborhood of Nea Smyrni, the report said.
The woman in that incident reported it to police and reportedly said that the suspect had followed her for several blocks to her home after she had gotten off the tram on the evening of May 5.
That led to the three other women coming forward with sexual harassment claims although it wasn't said why they also hadn't made police reports at the time they said he had gone after them too.
