Screening of Costa-Gavras’ Z at the Archdiocesan Hellenic Cultural Center

December 15, 2022

ASTORIA – The Department of Greek Education in conjunction with the Hellenic Book Club of New York presented a screening of Costa-Gavras’ Z, based on the book by Vassilis Vassilikos, at the Archdiocesan Hellenic Cultural Center in Astoria, on December 7.

The event included an informative introduction by Louis Katsos, founder and President of the East Mediterranean Business Cultural Alliance (EMBCA), on the turbulent Hellenic political background during the 1960’s relating to the film which captured the director’s outrage about the junta that then ruled Greece.

Hellenic Book Club of New York President Jeannie Kouros thanked Katsos in a post on social media: “Thank you Lou Katsos for the wonderful introduction and background information of the turbulent political climate during the era and background history of the iconic film ‘Z’.”
