Samos: Child Found Dead, Six Missing After Shipwreck of Migrant/Refugee Vessel

SAMOS, Greece — The body of a young boy was discovered by the Greek coast guard in waters of the shores of the island of Samos on Sunday morning. A woman that was still conscious was also found in the same spot and another 10 migrants and refugees were located nearby.

The survivors were picked up by a coast guard rescue vessel and the body transferred to the Samos General Hospital.

The coast guard was also informed by a fire brigade team of another six foreign nationals located ashore, to the east of the island.

According to the survivors, there were 24 people in total on board the vessel, which means that six are missing.
