‘Remembering ‘Apelasis’, Narratives of the 1964-65 Expulsion’, Online Sept. 28

WASHINGTON, DC – The Hellenic Society of Constantinopolitans of the Greater Washington Area (HSCONDC) invites everyone to the ‘Remembering ‘Apelasis’, Narratives of the 1964-65 Expulsion’ presentation, discussion, and Q&A on Thursday, September 28 virtually at 12 PM EDT.

Elif Kevser Özer Albayral of Bogazici University will present her project that was awarded the 2022 OTSA Vangelis Kechriotis Memorial Travel Grant and will engage in a discussion with Ilay Romain Ors of Harvard University. Christine Philiou of the University of California, Berkeley will serve as moderator. A remembrance of Vangelis Kechriotis will also be held prior to the presentation.

The event will highlight the history of the deportation of the Greeks of Constantinople in the period 1964-65.
