Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
A Cyprus civil defense spokeswoman says 15 migrants who arrived at Cyprus’ northern coast from Turkey aboard a small boat have applied for asylum.
Olivia Michaelidou told the Associated Press Aug. 10 the 14 men and one woman will stay with relatives living in Cyprus until their asylum applications are processed.
Police said all 15 are Syrians who were located near the village of Mansoura after authorities were notified of their arrival late Aug. 9.
