Prosecutor Indicts Managers of Greek Private Clinic for COVID-19 Infections, Deaths

ATHENS — An Athens prosecutor indicted the managers of a private clinic on Friday for failing to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus infections in 35 cases in April that led to the death of 13 of their patients.

Court of first instance prosecutor Nikos Antonarakos based the indictment on an article of the Criminal Code (285), which levels punishment that can reach life sentences in the case of multiple deaths from infectious diseases in cases of negligence.

The "Taxiarches" clinic in Peristeri claimed through a spokesman that it had observed all necessary protocols, and that the coronavirus carrier who spread the disease in the facilities was an outpatient who came to the clinic for dialysis.
