Problems with the Power Supply in Evia, Varybobi and Kos

ATHENS — There were problems with the power supply in the fire-stricken regions of Varybobi and Evia on Wednesday, due to damage to the network as a result of the fires.

Teams from the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) were working to restore the power line supplying the area, while four settlements in Evia were without power.

There were also intermittent power cuts in the centre of Athens and Peristeri.

A programme of power cuts was announced on the island of Kos as local power plants, whose output falls due to the high temperatures, cannot cover demand.
