ATHENS — The Attica Security drugs squad on Monday arrested a 39-year-old Lithuainian woman at "Eleftherios Venizelos" international airport after she was caught smuggling 345 grammes of cocaine into the country, in the form of 48 makeshift packages that she had swallowed.

The arrest was part of an operation to prevent the import of drugs from Latin American countries into Greece. The woman was arrested on her arrival from Sao Paolo in Brazil and led before an Athens public prosecutor.

ATHENS - Although the COVID-19 pandemic has been slowly easing overall - deaths are up - the numbers of admissions to hospitals and the unrelenting Omicron Variant will likely mean that health restrictions in Greece will stay in place at least through January.
