Meropi Kyriacou Honored as TNH Educator of the Year
NEW YORK – Meropi Kyriacou, the new Principal of The Cathedral School in Manhattan, was honored as The National Herald’s Educator of the Year.
ATHENS – The Hellenic Police apprehended five individuals on Saturday evening in the Karditsa region for breaching electoral regulations.
According to the General Regional Police Directorate of Thessaly, a search of a vehicle belonging to one of the detainees led to the discovery of 197 Identity Cards, a passport, 2 photocopies of Identity Cards, and a bag containing 114 sealed envelopes. Each envelope contained an MP candidate card and 5 ballots bearing the name of the specific candidate chosen.
Simultaneously, two of the arrested individuals were found to be in possession of a total of €6,060 in cash.
The Karditsa Police Department, responsible for the ongoing preliminary investigation, seized all the aforementioned items. The investigation uncovered evidence that the suspects had approached voters in the area, offering monetary incentives in exchange for voting for the specified MP candidate.
The arrested individuals will be presented before the Karditsa public prosecutor.
