PM Mitsotakis to Receive Belgian Royals on Monday

ATHENS – Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his spouse Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotaki will receive the Belgian royal couple, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians, at the Maximos Mansion in Athens at 16:00 on Monday.

The Belgian royals are on an official visit to Greece from May 2-4.

At 20:00 on Monday, the prime minister is to attend an official dinner held in honour of the visiting royals at the presidential mansion.

The royal couple of Belgium are expected to arrive in Greece on Monday for an official visit between May 2 and May 4, at the invitation of President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

The visit will begin at 15:00 with a ceremony to lay a wreath at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, followed by an official reception ceremony at the presidential mansion at 15:10.

At 15:20 there will be a medal ceremony for King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of the Belgians and President Sakellaropoulou, followed by a meeting between the Belgian royals, President Sakellaropoulou and Pavlos Kotsonis.

At 16:05, the Belgian royal couple will make their way to the Maximos Mansion for a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotaki. The meeting will be followed by talks between the delegations of the two sides at 16:20.

At 16:50, Queen Mathilde will pay a visit to the “Smile of the Child”, a non-profit child welfare organisation based in Greece.

King Philippe is to have a meeting with Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis at 17:15.

The first day of the visit will conclude with an official dinner in honour of the visiting royals at the presidential mansion at 20:00.

The visit is to continue on May 3 with a visit by the Belgian King and Queen at 8:45 to the “Andama” Reception Centre, while at 10:30 they will visit the archaeological site at Sounion.

At 11:00 they will participate in an academic meeting at the Grecotel Cape Sounio and at 14:00 they will visit the archaeological site of Thorikos.

At 20:00 on Tuesday evening, an event organised by the King and Queen of the Belgians in honour of President Sakellaropoulou and Pavlos Kotsonis is to be held at the Acropolis Museum.

On Wednesday at 10:00, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde are to visit the Liquified Natural Gas Terminal at Revithoussa.
