PM Mitsotakis Briefed on the Digitization of Consular Services for Greeks Abroad

ATHENS – Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis was briefed on the first steps of the digitization of consular services available to Greeks abroad, at an e-meeting he held with the Greek Consulate General in New York on Tuesday.

The shift of services online -that would otherwise require physical presence- is expected to be completed in 2021, but a pilot version of myConsulLive, the platform name of this digital project, will be launched imminently, over the next few days, by Greece's Embassy in London and its Consulate General in New York and Toronto, Canada; these will soon be followed by Greece's Consulate General in Boston, Istanbul, Dusseldorf and Perth.

E-Governance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis, who participated at the e-meeting among Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias and other key ministers and officials, said the target is to gradually bring in all of Greece's embassies and consulates into myConsulLive.

Another relevant tool already running in pilot mode is Virtual Assistant, currently offered by the Greek Embassy in London and the Greek Consulate General in New York. It offers the ability to apply online for documents and certificates requested by Greeks who live abroad.
