ATHENS — "None of the things that SYRIZA claims are true. The bill obviously protects and guarantees the eight-hour working day in a special article," government spokesperson Aristotelia Peloni said on Wednesday in an interview with Real FM.
The government spokesperson stressed that the government's draft bill included very progressive reforms that supported employees, which give employees the power to organise their work in a different way, if they want, in order to achieve a balance between personal and family life.
"It introduces new types of leave, such as the paternity leave. It deals with the real problems of the workers and the stormy developments in the labour market, which as we all know have taken place in recent years. We now have telework, we have digital platforms, we have the internet. We can not head to the future, to 2040 or to 2050, with the tools of the '80s," she underlined, stating that radical changes have taken place in the labour market.
