NEW YORK – The faithful filled the nave of the Church of the Holy Anargyroi-Taxiarchoi-St. Gerasimos for Palm Sunday services in Greenport, Long Island, NY.

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem and marks the start of Holy Week.

The Divine Liturgy featured noted Chanter Panagiotis Zournatzoglou, who came from Thessaloniki to serve exclusively at the parish for Holy Week.

After the end of the Divine Liturgy, the faithful had the opportunity to enjoy a rich traditional meal with codfish – skordalia – in the community hall.

In a statement, Fr. Gerasimos Maroulas and the Parish Council warmly thanked the parishioners who attended en masse and had the opportunity to celebrate with friends and acquaintances, as well as to support the work of the Church with their presence. It was noted that their participation was truly touching and proof that the Greeks of America continue to observe our traditions, strengthen our churches, and remain close to the Church.
