Ottawa DOP Euphrosyne Chapter 292 Participates in Cleaning the Capital Program

September 26, 2024

OTTAWA, ONTARIO – The Ottawa Daughters of Penelope (DOP) Euphrosyne Chapter 292 participated in the Fall Cleaning the Capital Program for the fifth year in a row on September 21. The program is a citywide volunteer cleanup effort in which residents work together as a community to clean public spaces and enjoy nature. This is the program’s 31st year with 1.4 million volunteers having participated in 30,000 projects with 1 million kilograms of trash removed.

Participants register for cleanup sites online and provide a cleanup report for the city to track litter collected and share feedback. The city provided trash bags and gloves and the group collected litter at Brewer Park, a municipal park in Ottawa with paths, sports fields, playgrounds and picnic areas.

Following the cleanup project, the DOP enjoyed lunch together. The DOP thanks the volunteers for their time and efforts fostering community and keeping Ottawa clean and green.
