We have now reached a fundamentally confusing point in modern American History, where Rep. Liz Cheney, of the politically dynastic Cheney family, is on the right side of history. It’s not the right side of history in Republican party terms at the moment, but she was expelled by the GOP because she simply refused to kowtow to a cult of personality, the worship of Donald Trump, the modern incarnation of the Republican Party.

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, a shamefully compliant Donald Trump ally, has repeatedly said the quiet part aloud regarding the direction of the GOP. That quiet part is that the GOP doesn’t fear the fact that Donald Trump can’t expand the base of the Republican Party, but indeed he is sociopathic enough and self-serving enough to detonate the entire party out of pure ego if it doesn’t bend to his will. Should such a thing occur, the GOP would be relegated to the minority in both chambers in Congress for the next few election cycles. Bringing this back to Liz Cheney, whose father was the Vice President of the United States and a former Secretary of Defense, she was expelled because she refused to comply with those in her party who are too scared to challenge Donald Trump and the obscene denial of reality regarding the attempted insurrection of January 6th against the Government of the United States.

Liz Cheney, by taking a principled approach, mimicked by a handful of others in her party, has bet that by calling the events of January 6th by their proper name that not only is she on the right side of history, but she is the future of the conservative movement in America. The bar has been set so low that just by stating the obvious in the Republican Party, not only are you considered a hero by any critical thinking person, you’re also ostracized by your party.

May Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, and the rest find the courage to keep up the good fight.

It’s not good for the United States to have only one party talking any sense and because of that fact, the Democrats are being pulled to their respective extreme, to the left. America, if it is to retain its two-party system, needs to have both parties talking sense. Liz Cheney has completed an incredible rebrand of herself and her family considering the carnage that was the post-Bush years’ poll numbers. May the Republican Party also complete a rebrand, because the political system needs them to come back into the real world.
