Online Exhibition on the Architectural Wonder of Aghia Sophia

ATHENS – The Constantinopolitan Societies of Germany, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and Washington, Los Angeles, and Chicago in the USA in collaboration with the Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans (EFC) have organized an online exhibition on The Architectural Wonder of Aghia Sophia in Constantinople as a Form of Expression of the Ecumenical Romiosyni.

The virtual exhibition is available in Greek, French, English, and German, through January 31, 2021, online: www.hagiasofiaexh.com.

The exhibition opening was held online on November 29 with esteemed speakers:

Dr. Christophoros Sofroniou, cardiologist and author, on “The architectural and visual art treasure of Agia Sophia, an invaluable legacy of Romiosyni,” and Ioannis Ktistakis, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Law, Democritus University of Thrace, on “Aghia Sophia: a prescribed ‘islamisation.’”

The Digital Exhibition, The Geometric Design of Aghia Sophia, is a result of a Research Program coordinated by Professor Volker Hoffman of the University of Bern – Switzerland. This Exhibition was organized in Athens, Greece by the Ecumenical Federation of Constantinopolitans in May 2008. The organizers thanked Professor Volker Hoffman and their compatriot Civil Engineer Nikos Theocharis, for their support in organizing the Exhibition.

The financially struggling Metropolitan Opera will present 18 productions in 2024-25, matching the current season and pandemic-curtailed 2019-20 for the fewest since 14 in strike-shortened 1980-81.
