On the Holy Light

To the Editor:

Since ancient times, people have always believed in the mysteries of nature. The thermal waters that were in many regions of Greece, such as Loutraki and Edipsos, as it turned out, contained many therapeutic elements and minerals such as sulphur, iodine, phosphorus, salt that benefit the human body, as we know from history.

Achilles’ mother dipped him in the thermal baths holding him by the heel. When she put him in the water, however, Achilles’ heel did not get wet, leaving that sensitive area of his body unprotected, and when he grew up and went to fight at Troy, the poisoned arrow found that spot.

In Israel, they have the pool of Siloam. As for the Jordan River, our tradition says that every state has its customs and manners, so we must respect them. Likewise the Holy Light that comes out of the Holy Sepulchre of Christ, when they buried Christ. It was guarded by several soldiers so that the body of Christ would not be stolen and on the third day, Saturday, there was a great explosion in the tomb and Christ was resurrected and a blue light surrounded him as the guards confessed and supported as the four evangelists wrote.

After 300 years, the Christians built the Church of the Resurrection at this spot, which, as many eyewitnesses confessed, every year on the Resurrection day, a blue light came out on this day, which you could touch and it would not burn you.

This is called a mystery that is believable but incomprehensible, as a Holy Sepulchre guard and even a relative of mine confessed to us many years ago. God loves and forgives all people and above all doctors, and enlightens them to have knowledge about diseases and prescribing the right medicines. Doctors, when they get their degree, take an oath of the ancient doctor Hippocrates who, according to tradition, was descended from the god of medicine Asclepius.

In Evia, every six hours the waters of the sea change direction, this is an unexplained phenomenon until now. That’s why some TV journalists would do well to read more stories about these issues of which we have many examples. The Greek people from ancient times were God-fearing and respected their country, religion, and family, that’s why they had a great culture and democracy in Greece and taught the whole world.
