Oikonomou: The Greek Side Is Prepared to React on All Fronts

September 24, 2021

ATHENS — "This is not something new," government spokesman Yannis Oikonomou said on Friday in an interview with Skai TV regarding Turkey's behaviour and the Turkish President's reactions.

The government spokesman reiterated once again that Greece's foreign policy is based on international law and the law of the sea.

Regarding the meeting of the leaders of the two countries, he said that there was no such request and he could not interpret the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement as it was clear that his programme did not coincide with the programme of the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

He underlined that "the Greek side is prepared to react on all fronts" while noting that "history has shown that we must always be on alert."

Regarding Greece's alliances, he said that they are at their best.
