Founded in 2015 by expert winemaker Nikos Karatzas, Oenops (meaning “Wine Face”) hails from Greece, the Land of Dionysus. Unlike traditional wineries, Oenops does not own vineyards but partners with passionate, eco-conscious local growers who cultivate indigenous grape varieties in selected regions across Greece. Their focus is on cool-climate sites and mature vines, fostering a close collaboration with growers who share their commitment to sustainability.
Oenops’ mission is to source exceptional fruit and craft outstanding varietal wines that truly reflect the character of the grape and the unique terroir from which it originates. Their approach emphasizes authenticity and fruit-forward flavors.
Rather than following conventional winemaking protocols, Oenops adopts a flexible and dynamic process. They continuously taste and refine their techniques for each batch, guided by their philosophy of producing elegant wines that enhance their customers’ most cherished moments.
Oenops carefully selects indigenous grape varieties such as Malagousia, Assyrtiko, Vidiano, Xinomavro, Limniona, and Mavroudi to create their exceptional wines. Each vineyard plot is treated individually, allowing for a deeper understanding of the land and enabling continuous improvement with each vintage.
Wine critics have been impressed by Oenops’ wines, often noting the outstanding quality at remarkably low prices. Their varietal wines, such as Vidiano Decanter (95 points), Limniona Decanter (96 points), and Apla Rose Decanter (90 points), have received high praise and ratings.
