NEW YORK — A Queens car wash worker has been arrested on charges including vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving after he struck and killed a woman who was waiting for her car, police said Tuesday.

Edwin Vargas, 43, struck a 54-year-old woman as he was driving a sport utility vehicle out of the car wash bay at 2 p.m. Monday, police said.

The woman suffered "severe body trauma" and was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Her name was not immediately released.

Vargas hit a parked car after striking the woman, police said. He was arrested on charges including vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault and driving while intoxicated. It wasn't clear if he had an attorney who could comment on the charges.
