The Greek Americans are the ENYSSA champions for the US over 30s Mengel National Cup. The club moves on to represent New York in National Competition for the Mengel National Cup. Coached by Peter Nikolakakos, Kostas Politis, and Tom Bouklis. The team took down Central Park Rangers Joga Dor 2-0 Thursday night at Randalls Island in front of many spectators from from organizations. It is worth noting Joga Dor are primarily former NY Greek American over 30s players.

The Greek side comprised of many 1st team EPSL players, complemented by newly recruited guest players, dominated the match from the starting whistle. Eithin seconds the Greeks hit its 1st shot on target but blocked by CPR goalie and former professional Steven Diaz. Steven, absolutely and undeniably was the MVP of the match for both sides.

He kept CPR tied with the Greeks at the half, and also made it difficult for the Greeks to get in the scoreboard. 80% possession for the Greeks 1st half with CPR on constant defense. Paul Nattoli was constantly attacking CPR goal with 8 hits on goal and all blocked. At half, Greeks coaching staff made attacking alterations, bringing in former Seton Hall standout Kurt Cameron who recently scored 3 for the Greeks in the Lamar Hunt Open Cup.

Along with former Colombian professional Francesco Escaparte. With Gerasimos Magoulas in the center and former pro Bryan Martinez, the Greeks finally scored in the 60 with a dribble by Cameron on the left and crossed to Natoli. Natoli headers on target but deflected by CPR goalie to the right of the box.

Kaloo with a standing shot high in the air put it back over Diaz into the goal. Few minutes later, Eacaparte gave a long ball from the Greeks right back position high and across the sideline curling into Paul Natoli. Paul then dribbled up the line, crossed into Cameron for Cameron to place it in goal for 2-0.

The Greeks now move on to compete for Region 1 in the Spring. Opponent is still yet to be drawn.
This Sunday our EPSL team face Doxa in the 2nd round of the US Amatuer Cup. Kickoff 8pm at the Metropolitan Oval.
