Northern New Jersey Altar Server Retreat Held

OCEAN, New Jersey – On Saturday, February 25, 2023, the Metropolis of New Jersey, under the guidance of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, hosted an Altar Server Retreat for the Acolytes of the Northern New Jersey Region at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Asbury Park (Ocean), New Jersey.

The retreat brought together more than 30 young men from throughout the region for a day of faith and fellowship. The event began with the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the 2nd Saturday of Souls celebrated by His Grace Bishop Apostolos of Medeia. After the Liturgy, His Grace served as the Retreat Master and spoke to the Acolytes about the significance of their role as Altar Servers, provided them with guidance on the Divine Services, and taught them about the importance of the Liturgical items found within the Holy Altar.

The Metropolis Youth Director, the Rev. Dn. Konstantinos Loukas, together with the Proistamenos, the Rev. Protopresbyter Andrew Eugenis, and the Rev. Dn. Emmanuel Tsarnas, organized the Altar Server Retreat. After the retreat, the community provided a delicious lunch for all the participants.
