‘Nick the Greek’ Chain Continues Expanding in Utah, Tennessee, and California

July 28, 2024

SAN JOSE, CA – Founded in 2014 by three cousins all named Nick Tsigaris, after their grandfather, the ‘Nick the Greek’ fast-casual restaurant chain is rapidly expanding. The Northern California-based chain, known for its authentic Greek street food, has signed three multi-unit franchise deals across three states, introducing five units each in Salt Lake City and Nashville, and three units in San Diego, QSR reported on July 25.

Nick the Greek is set to open over 25 locations this year, with more than 75 restaurants currently in operation. The brand aims to reach nearly 100 locations by the end of 2024. Komiel Mohsen, Chief Operating Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the growth, stating, “We are well-positioned to bring Nick the Greek to new markets and believe the sky’s the limit for our brand by meeting the growing demand for authentic Greek street food.”

Established by Big Nick, Little Nick, and Baby Nick Tsigaris, Nick the Greek offers a menu inspired by Greek street food, featuring gyro meats cooked on traditional vertical rotisseries, charbroiled souvlaki, zesty sauces, fresh vegetables, and authentic Greek desserts like baklava and loukoumades. The brand’s focus on quality and authenticity has helped it carve out a niche in the competitive fast-casual market.

Nick ‘Baby Nick’ Tsigaris, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer, reflected on the brand’s growth: “Starting with family recipes to share authentic Greek food with our community, seeing Nick the Greek double its footprint and become a leading Greek fast-casual concept is beyond what we imagined.”

Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, Nick the Greek has accelerated its expansion, doubling its store count in the last three years. The chain now operates in seven states: California, Nevada, Arizona, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Utah, with additional development underway in Tennessee. By strategically placing locations in high-visibility downtown areas, Nick the Greek has developed a diverse and devoted fan base and is seeking franchise partners to further its growth in the Western U.S.
