The image of the royal family of Great Britain has been affected negatively after the revelations of young Prince Harry, who will now be known as the ‘spare’ – as in ‘spare tire’ of the British throne.
The family has been so badly mangled that what Harry has wrought probably approaches the damage done by the tragic manner of the death of Diana, Harry’s mother, which had left many people with unanswered questions.
The damage is immense for an institution that relies on prestige, on the veil of mystery that must cover it for its preservation.
One thing seems to be the motive of the young prince, ‘the royal spare’ to discredit his family: revenge.
Revenge against his father. His brother. And, most importantly, against his stepmother.
Revenge at any cost and whatever the pain – but also revenge with financial gain from the sale of the books.
And it looks like he’s succeeding in his goal. He’s getting revenge on everyone. He’s exposing them. He’s embarrassing them. He reveals how inferior they are to the image each of us has of them. He is throwing ‘fuel on the fire’ for those who question the need for the institution to exist in today’s world.
He is also taking revenge – unwittingly, apparently, immature as he is – on himself.
But he is also taking it out on those who watch his endless interviews.
Does he know what he is doing? Does he realize that it is difficult for an ordinary person to feel pity or sympathy for someone who grew up in Buckingham Palace and is playing the victim?
But he has enlightened us. He shows us that his family, the royal family of Great Britain, is no better than an ordinary family. And that the Royal family can be worse.
They kill each other – or in this case, the siblings are beating the heck out of each other. And they ‘snitch’ on each other in London’s famously gossipy press.
Blind revenge. That’s why it’s stupid.
I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly not going to buy ‘Spare’. To find out what more there is than what he has already said and leaked about the broken royal family?
Anyway, it’s only a matter of time before Harry realizes his mistake – realizes what his real interest is and returns to the Palace to write a new book titled: ‘I fell victim to Meghan’.
That one, yes, I might buy.
