Niarchos Foundation Behind Biden School Civil Discourse

The Stavros Niarchos Foundation is supporting a civil discourse program for the Joseph R. Biden, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Delaware, to be called the SNF Ithaca Initiative.

That's after the mythical hero Odysseus, whose talent for persuasive discourse was revered in ancient Greece, said Delaware Business Now of the foundation working with the school named for the US President.

It will focus on civility as an alternative to the divisiveness brought by former president Donald Trump's screaming populism.

Andreas Dracopoulos, Co-President of the foundation said that, “civil discourse and civic engagement, two key pillars of our democracy, are not about having all the solutions or all the right answers.”

He added, “they’re a journey, one we must engage in together in good faith and with respect for the inherent dignity of all people. We are proud to support the Biden School at the University of Delaware in helping equip tomorrow’s leaders to embark on this journey.”

There will also be a National Student Dialogue, the SNF Ithaca Student Leaders, the Biden School Civility in Public Service Award, and All Politics is Personal program.
