New Rochelle AHEPA Chapter 405 Presents Smyrna Documentary

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – On November 13, the James Plevritis-Joseph C. Keane Evzone Chapter #405 had the distinct pleasure of viewing the awarded and acclaimed documentary film Smyrna: Paradise is Burning, The Asa K. Jennings Story. The documentary was produced by Michael Damergis, who is a Brother of the Evzone Chapter and a professor at Iona University in New Rochelle.

The Chapter sponsored a brunch for the entire community at Holy Trinity Church and the viewing of the documentary itself. A short Q&A followed the documentary in which many shared stories of family history in connection with Smyrna and the tragedies that took place a century ago.

A plaque honoring Br. Michael Damergis for his magnificent contribution to the spirit of Hellenism was presented to him by Chapter President Harry Fotiadis and Past Supreme Governor Thomas Dushas.
