New Jersey’s Greek From Greece’s Star Power: The Antetokounmpos

July 25, 2020

Georgios Drosos, a former basketball player in Greece whose career was cut short by injury, has turned to his love of the game to recruit NBA MVP Giannis The Greek Freak Antetokounmpo and his brothers as ambassadors for his Greek from Greece Café Cuisine fast-food spot in Hoboken, N.J.

“This partnership with Giannis is monumental,” he told The Franchise Times about the NBA superstar from the Milwaukee Bucks who draws droves of Greek-Americans to games around the league when his team plays.

In an announcement of the partnership he said the restaurant endorsement is giving him the opportunity to share everything he loves in Greek everyday life with America.

“For years I have been looking for a way to go back to Greece at any moment and now I have found it,” said Antetokounmpo of the deal.

MELBOURNE — A "devastated" Nick Kyrgios pulled out of the Australian Open on Monday — the day before he was scheduled to play his first-round singles match — because of an injured left knee that needs arthroscopic surgery.
