Mitsotakis Stresses Greek, EU Border Protection

ATHENS — Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday at his meeting with the vice president of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola stressed the need for the protection of the Greek and the European borders with respect to the human rights and the EU support for the countries that are close to Afghanistan in order to intercept the migrants flow to Europe.

He also said that it is important, in terms of the refugee flows, for the EU to support the countries close to Afghanistan and to ensure that we will not have additional migration flows to Europe.

On her part, Matsola said that the last days were an excellent opportunity to see with her own eyes "the excellent job done against these unprecedented challenges in all fronts".

Metsola conveyed the message that Europe will continue to stand by Greece's side adding that the message of the European parliament is one and only "Europe will continue to stand by Greece's side and with the member states that are on the frontline and assume a European responsibility."
