Mitsotakis: New Law Shows the State Cares about Workers

ATHENS – The new labour law passed by the government protects delivery staff and their rights, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a post on the Facebook social media platform on Tuesday.

The prime minister noted that “its implementation is the response of a state that cares about workers and which, in difficult times, when salaries in Greece are still low, tries to bring relief to their daily life, broadening their rights. With actions!”

“Today we are correcting an injustice of many years at the expense of staff in the delivery sector. From now on, the digital platforms are obliged to provide them with a motorbike and protective helmet for their movements. In addition, rainproof protection, gloves and a reflective vest. Whereas, if they want to use their own vehicles and equipment, they will have the right to special compensation,” Mitsotakis said, noting that these measures were passed “in spite of the demagoguery of [main opposition] SYRIZA”.
