Mitsotakis Meets with Cyprus’ Democratic Party Leader Papadopoulos

ATHENS — Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday reiterated Greece's position that a necessary condition for the resolution of the Cyprus problem is the abolition of the outdated system of guarantees and intervention rights, as well as the complete and rapid withdrawal of the occupying troops from the island.

Mitsotakis met with the leader of the Democratic Party Nikolas Papadopoulos, at the Maximos Mansion.

Mitsotakis – according to a relevant announcement of the government – referred to the forthcoming five-party meeting in Geneva at the end of April, noting the constant interest of Greece for Cyprus and the Cyprus issue.

Finally, the Prime Minister stressed that the framework for resolving the Cyprus issue, which binds all parties, is what is defined by the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, for a bi-zonal, bicommunal federation.
