Minister: 81,200 European COVID-19 Certificates Issued Since Tuesday

ATHENS — "The programme of the European Covid Certificate has been underway with great success since Tuesday, with 81,200 certificates issued," Deputy Minister of Digital Governance Giorgos Georgantas said on Wednesday in an inteview with ANT1 TV.

Regarding trips by children, Georgantas said that "since vaccination is [only] possible from the age of 16 upwards, children will travel with a negative diagnostic test."

Explaining the use of the certificate, Georgantas underlined that the certificate will be scanned upon presentation in an EU country to confirm its authenticity, and he noted that there will be announcements regarding the replacement of the vaccination certificate, while there are also thoughts and plans so that those who are fully vaccinated do not need to do a self test.

"We are waiting for the instructions from the experts. So far, self tests are obligatory," he explained.
