Military Exercise Niriis 2020 Concluded South of Crete

ATHENS — The military exercise "Niriis 2020" took place between Tuesday 17 November until Thursday 19 November, south of the island of Crete. It included the Hellenic Airforce, the Hellenic Navy and the allied navy force of NATO.

According to an announcement, the exercise was held under the instructions of Hellenic National Defence General Staff and planned by the Hellenic Navy General Staff.

Specifically, it involved two frigates, two rapid patrol guided missiles vessels and a submarine from the Greek Navy, four F-16 aircraft of the Greek Airforce as well as two frigates and a tanker from the NATO force.

The aim of the exercise was the training and education of the participants in technical and tactical objectives aiming at the preservation and upgrading of the operational readiness and the fighting skills on a national and alliance level.


ATHENS - Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias met with US Ambassador Geoffrey Pyatt on Tuesday at the foreign ministry.
